Amartya Sen’s daughter refutes death rumors, saying her father is “totally fine.”

According to reports, Nobel Prize-winning economist Amartya Sen’s daughter, Nandana Deb Sen, has disputed his passing.

Nandana addressed the crowd on X (previously X), saying, “Friends, I appreciate your concern, but this is false information; Baba is in perfect health. He gave me a hug last night when we said goodbye after a wonderful week spent with relatives in Cambridge. He is as busy as ever, teaching two classes a week at Harvard and finishing his book on gender.

The veteran economist’s 89-year-old death was widely reported in the media, but his daughter Nandana later emphasized that her father is “totally fine.”

Amartya Sen, who was born in 1933 in Shantiniketan, West Bengal, was the first Indian economist to be awarded the Nobel Prize in Economics. He is also well renowned for writing many novels.
