Indian soldiers open fire on drone suspected to be from Pakistan near the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir’s Rajouri district.
In a recent development near the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir’s Rajouri district, Indian Army troops reportedly engaged with a suspected Pakistani drone late Saturday night. According to officials, the drone briefly entered Indian territory before returning to the Pakistani side.
The incident, which occurred in the Keri sector, prompted Indian soldiers to open fire on the drone in an attempt to deter its activities. Despite an extensive search of the area, no suspicious items were found on the ground.
Authorities expressed concerns over the potential exploitation of drones by anti-national elements to smuggle weapons and narcotics into Indian territory. However, they reassured the public that security forces are fully prepared to thwart such attempts.
In a separate incident, a flying object with a blinking light was spotted in the sky near the Allahpir area of Poonch district on the intervening night of Saturday and Sunday. Although police and security forces conducted a thorough search of the area, no evidence was found on the ground to substantiate the sighting.
Meanwhile, in Punjab’s Amritsar district, the Border Security Forces (BSF) recovered a China-made DJI Mavic 3 Classic drone in a harvested field of village Havelian. This marks the second such incident within two days, with the previous one involving a drone allegedly carrying a packet of suspected heroin.
According to a statement from the BSF, the earlier incident took place on May 11, during which security forces noticed the movement of a drone in the border area of Amritsar. The subsequent recovery operation led to the retrieval of a small drone along with a packet of suspected heroin.
With concerns mounting over the increasing use of drones for illicit activities, authorities remain vigilant in monitoring border areas and taking necessary action to safeguard national security.
