Prime Minister Narendra Modi Holds Historic Roadshow in Patna, Kicks Off Election Campaign

Patna, May 12, 2024 : In a significant move marking a historic first for the city of Patna, Prime Minister Narendra Modi initiated a vibrant roadshow on Sunday evening. The event commenced near Bhattacharya Road at approximately 7:20 pm, capturing the attention of residents and political enthusiasts alike. Notably, Patna stands as a bastion for the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), particularly in the influential parliamentary constituencies of Patliputra and Patna Sahib.

The roadshow, a novel endeavor for Patna by any sitting Prime Minister, traversed over two kilometers through the bustling and typically congested streets, culminating its route at Udyog Bhavan near Gandhi Maidan. Prior to embarking on the journey, Prime Minister Modi was warmly received by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, Deputy CM Samrat Choudhary, and other prominent figures. Accompanying Modi on the specially curated vehicle was Patna Sahib candidate Ravi Shankar Prasad, underscoring the event’s political significance.

Following an overnight stay at the esteemed Raj Bhawan, Prime Minister Modi’s electoral agenda for Bihar on Monday is packed with three pivotal rallies scheduled in Hajipur, Muzaffarpur, and Saran. These constituencies are among the five gearing up for elections in the state’s ongoing electoral process. Additionally, five other constituencies are slated for voting on the same day.

Before his electoral rallies, Modi is set to pay a visit to Takht Harmandir, a revered Sikh shrine situated in the heart of the old city, and the sacred birthplace of Guru Gobind Singh.

The electoral landscape in Bihar is heating up as candidates brace themselves for intense contests. In Hajipur, Chirag Paswan of LJP-R is making his electoral debut, following in the footsteps of his late father Ram Vilas Paswan. Meanwhile, in Saran, BJP’s Rajiv Pratap Rudy faces a formidable challenge from Rohini Acharya, daughter of RJD president Lalu Prasad, marking her maiden foray into electoral politics.

In Muzaffarpur, Modi will extend his support to BJP’s Raj Bhushan Choudhary Nishad, further underscoring the strategic importance of these electoral battlegrounds.

Prime Minister Modi’s tireless campaign efforts in Bihar have already encompassed seven rallies, aiming to secure a significant chunk of the state’s 40 Lok Sabha seats. In the previous 2019 elections, the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) secured victory in 39 out of the 40 seats, indicating the party’s stronghold in the region.
